Sandakan Airport is a medium-sized airport north of the city of Sandakan in the state of Sabah on Malaysian Borneo. The airport is only about 13km from the city. The airport is a bit old-fashioned and is in need of an upgrade. The facilities at Sandakan Airport are modest comparing to other Malaysian Airports.
Transport to and from Sandakan to the airport
Strangely enough the Batu Bus line 7 does not stop at the terminal but on the roundabout just in front of the terminal. This means you need to walk, but it is only a short distance (exit the car park at the right side, turn left and continue till you are at the roundabout). The bus heads to Sandakan centre and costs about RM 2. Taxi coupons are available in the terminal.
