South Sulawesi to hold 'Sultan Halal Festival' in September
The provincial administration of South Sulawesi is set to hold the Sultan Halal Festival (SHF) for the first time from Sept. 6 to 8, the main events of which will take place at the Mandala Monument in Makassar.
Targeting 2,500 visitors including those hailing from Malaysia and Singapore, the halal culinary festival will include participation by local SMEs, a halal lifestyle talk-show, information about halal certification and halal-conscious movements.
Denny Irawan, head of the South Sulawesi Culture and Tourism Agency, said that his province was listed among 10 halal tourism destinations in Indonesia. “We’d like to seize this opportunity by organizing the SHF,” Denny told Antara news agency, adding that Indonesians, who live in a predominantly Muslim country, should be organizers instead of simply being consumers of halal products and events.
