Kalala beach

This beautiful beach is surrounded by green hills and located in Melolo, East Sumba, NTT. This beach is famous for high waves and often called "private beach" because of scarcity of tourists visiting the beach.

For those who like to surf this beach is a good place because of the high waves and the white sand beach. The beach is still pristine and not contaminated with waste. Besides being a good surfspot, this beach is also used for seaweed producing.

To get to this beach you can fly from Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar to Mau Hau Airport, Waingapu. From Waingapur the Kalala Beach is about 115 km to the southeast. You can go there by public transportation or rent a car from Waingapu to the Kalala beach. Car rental fees are between Rp. 300.000 Rp. 500.000..

Waingapu is the capital of Sumba Timur district, Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. Waingapu itself is the biggest city in Sumba Island. You can easily morning hectic here in Waingapu.
